Global smart city technology spending is anticipated to hit $80 billion this year, and grow to $135 billion by 2021, which demonstrates how many cities are now moving on from planning and scoping to setting up actual pilot projects and onto a broader roll-out of smart cities solutions.

Public Sector organisations in Australia are exploring how the huge number of solutions available can best be prioritised on the unique challenges that individual states and councils face in order to realize the full benefits of smart cities.

Building on the success of October 2018’s ‘Smart Cities Series’, the Smart Cities Series will focus on addressing this.

The agenda takes both a ‘problem-centric’ and ‘solution-focused’ look at some of the most innovative projects currently being rolled out, with technology as the enabler. The focus is on thinking outside of the box and how State Government and Councils can continuously evolve and improve the services they offer to their communities.
